My Story

20201124_171146.jpg

I live in the beautiful Bay of Plenty in the North Island, New Zealand surrounded by farmland, sheep and cattle. Our property is bordered by native bush and looks out to the Pacific Ocean

I create sculptural felted pieces using New zealnd grown wool.

The  tactile and organic nature of wool suits the way I like to work.

It  is a sustainable and renewable resource that  fits well with my desire to be environmentally conscious in my felting practice.

My strong connection to  my local environment has led to my love of  experimenting with the plant material around me to  produce natural dyes and to eco-print. These partner well with the natural colours of our New Zealand Merino wool.  Incorporating the results of those experiments, along with other natural fibres, provide colour and accent to my work.

The process of delicate fibres being transformed to   form solid 3D objects continually inspires me.
